Addictions Counseling

Systemic Approach

Family System

At Cohesive SOULutions, I help clients overcome dependence on alcohol and other drugs, as well as destructive behaviors such as gambling and sex addiction.  I also work with families of those with Substance Use Disorders to understand their role in assisting the healing process.

Starting with a relationship built on trust, I provide the support, resources, and judgement-free guidance that clients can utilize on their road to addiction recovery.  If you have questions about your relationship with substances or addictive behaviors, we can start with an assessment, and then work together to build a customized plan, and a support system for your success.

I take an evidence-based, and multi-faceted approach to addictions counseling that includes the most effective modalities available, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Hypnotherapy, and integration of well-established peer-based support systems both within, and outside of the 12 step tradition.  These methods, often combined with Medically assisted Treatment (MAT), can provide the tools and support needed to break the cycle of addiction.

I realize that most people don’t know one addictions counseling approach from another, but I’ve listed mine below because sometimes potential clients tell me: “My step-dad has been in AA for 22 years, is that the approach you use?” or “I’ve heard that Naltrexone might help me get started in recovery, can you work with that?”

Every person and situation is unique so I use of a wide range of well-researched methods. But I’m most likely to rely a combination of these:

  • Counseling for Medication-Assisted Treatment

  • Ericksonian Hypnosis

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Peer Support (AA, SMART Recovery, Women For Sobriety)

  • Neuro Linguistc Programming (NLP)

  • Solution Focused / Narrative

  • PsychoEducational

  • Motivational Interviewing
